Major Phantom Cast Change
The London production of The Phantom of the Opera has announced a new major cast change. The iconic role of the Phantom is now played by Earl Carpenter who will continue in the role until 17th March 2012. Carpenter has performed in several hit West End shows in leading roles such as the Beast in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and Javert in Les Miserables and he is no stranger to acting the part of the tortured musical genius, having previously played the part at Her Majesty’s Theatre.
From 19th March 2012, Swedish actor Peter Jöback will step behind the mask of the Phantom to perform as the enigmatic character. Jöback is a prolific Swedish recording artist who has been awarded platinum and gold discs for his releases as well as being nominated several times for the most prestigious music award you can get – the Grammy’s! He has also previously acted in West End stage musicals, performing in the lead roles of Miss Saigon and The Witches of Eastwick.
Joining the cast as leading lady Christine on certain performances will be Katy Treharne. Katy has been performing in The Phantom of the Opera but has not yet had the chance to shine as Christine.
Currently playing at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London, The Phantom of the Opera is taking bookings until 27th October 2012.
